Look just at the card(s) directly next to the chosen card and see if anything is consistent between rounds.

On January 27, 2022 at 8:32PM EST FlipFlopd1 responded to CranjisMcBasketball:

No big surprise here, but I'm an idiot. Can I have a less vague hint? I wasn't looking at the whole deck anyway, and I tried everything to do with being close to the chosen card. Help again, please?

On January 26, 2022 at 7:15AM EST CranjisMcBasketball responded to FlipFlopd1:

You don't need to look at the whole deck. The answer lies pretty close to the chosen card.

On January 25, 2022 at 7:21PM EST FlipFlopd1 responded to EMC2:

Hey, uh... speaking of M491C14N, can I have a clue for the second part of it? I've got some ideas but they've been pretty baseless. My best idea was add the top and bottom cards and multiply by the second-top card, and then choose a card that isn't the suit of any of those three but it works about half the time.

On January 24, 2022 at 9:45PM EST EMC2 responded to CranjisMcBasketball:

yeah this one took me forever! here's my best hint for that one:

the first two cards in the deck fully determine the chosen card

and if that's not enough, here's another:

Does anyone have any hints for the third round of the magician part of the "Are You an Elite...?" website portion? I've figured out the clues for the first two sets, but can't guess the third one.

I am both thankful for your help and incredibly mad I couldn't figure that out myself! Thanks a lot!

On January 24, 2022 at 9:28PM EST CranjisMcBasketball responded to FlipFlopd1:

Is it offset vertically? I noticed when I did it that scrolling down caused a proportional gap between the cursor and the brush mark, so keeping the page all the way scrolled to the top fixed the problem for me. Also, zooming out a little helps you avoid the offset while being able to view the paints.

I can’t do 4R715T, probably because of the dumb brush offset. Is this intentional or a bug?

finally got it! you're on the right track... try translating the cat's l33t speak to english as best as you can, the dialog box is actually pretty lenient. In case you want to know, here's what I typed in: who are you calling a noob? i'm the leetness

I don’t know if anyone else has done this yet, but entering the phrase the cat tells you to gives new dialogue from M. I tried translating the cat’s 1337-speak into normal English, but either I’m translating wrong or It doesn’t do anything. Anyone got anything that could go on with this idea?

Idea. What if M’s question in the second hint isn’t the answer, but instead an indirect way of telling us that the answer is in leetspeak?

numbers 1-12? Like hours of the day maybe? I don’t know but I still feel like it’s close. Really I’m just using the same assumptions you are.

(sad face) ... apparently I am not yet sufficiently 1337 ... so may I suggest a collaboration of sorts ... things that "may" be clues?

Like:

front cover "wheels" on left and right that appear to translate the numbers 1-12 into something??

Or:

the strange design at the bottom of page 3

I'm going on the assumption that I need to answer the question Where did the cat learn to speak 1337? ... my best try so far has been the "13373r box" to no avail ...

For M: working the two Master Theorem books has been a joy - by far my favorite "puzzle books" of all time. Thank you (and the TMT team) for these incredible time-wasters! Only thing that could be better was the binding on the Elite volume ... my pages are all over the place!
